Welcome to the Switzerland County Elementary School Website. We are a Kindergarten through 5 th grade facility with approximately 450 students and 56 staff members. SCES is an outstanding school academically and a fun place for children! In 2005 SCES was designated an “ Indiana 4-Star School” by the Indiana Department of Education. The United States Department of Education selected SCES as a 2005-2006 National Blue Ribbon School!

In addition to academics, SCES offers a wide variety of opportunities for children. Students can participate in Student Council, gifted/talented competitions, and the school newspaper. On Friday afternoons, students in second grade go to the YMCA for swim lessons. After school activities include Drama Club, Art Club, Scrabble Club and homework support. Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, The Good News Club and basketball are offered at designated times. A variety of clubs are offered on Friday mornings. There is also transportation available to the YMCA for after school programs.

An area of school life, of which we are particularly proud, is volunteerism. Parents, grandparents and community members provide a tremendous service to the school. The volunteers work one-on-one to support at-risk children as they learn to read and practice math facts. We believe that volunteerism has made a dramatic difference toward the academic success of our school. If you are able to donate time to the school, please contact me.
